As part of our recently launched 100 Projects That Matter initiative, we have donated and installed an infrared panel heater, which will provide low carbon, low cost electricity to the Salvation Army. Previously the café had underfloor heating which no longer worked, so the new heating panel offers café visitors a warm environment with low running costs for the charity.

Captain Richard Nunn, the co-leader of the Salvation Army in Jersey alongside his wife Captain Alice Nunn, said, “Thanks to Jersey Electricity for supporting us with providing additional heating in our community café in Minden Street. We work hard to be a warm, welcoming place for all, and this additional heating will be very much appreciated.”

Peter Cadiou, Director of Business Development at Jersey Electricity, added, “The Salvation Army is a real hub in our community, offering a safe space for the most vulnerable as well as a welcoming cafe. We’re pleased that the infrared panel is now installed and providing energy-efficient warmth to the charity’s visitors and is contributing to lower running costs. Infrared heating is ideal for the café’s space and we are proud to offer our support through our new community impact initiative.”

Infrared heating is an energy-efficient heating source which, rather than warming the air in a room, heats surfaces and people in their path, providing comfortable warmth. The panel was installed by local contractor B.C.M.S, one of JE’s partners.

Our 100 Projects That Matter impact programme is a commitment to support not-for-profit organisations, charities, community groups, and schools; those who work tirelessly to create positive change in Jersey. The initiative underscores our support, particularly, to education, health, the environment and diversity, equity and inclusion - pillars that reflect JE’s purpose and vision for a sustainable, vibrant Jersey.

Charity groups are invited to apply for various funding grants through our webpage. These will range from simple vouchers for raffles, to larger financial grants, or access to the skills and resources of Jersey Electricity.
