Economy 7 Max Demand at a glance

E7 Max Demand has two rates, a Day Rate and a Night Rate. The Night Rate gives you seven hours of cheaper electricity for all appliances used at night.

The Night Rate period is usually between 11pm and 7.30am, though the exact times are at the discretion of Jersey Electricity.

Who is it for?

This tariff is for homes that require a service capacity greater than 100A (three phase).

Customers whose Power Factor is less than 0.95 lagging, will incur higher energy costs than necessary. For more information, please contact our Customer Care team.

All Maximum Demand Tariffs are subject to a minimum charge of 30 kiloVolt amperes (kVA).

E7 Max Demand benefits

E7 Max Demand is likely to benefit you if:

  • You can store heat and heat water at night
  • You can use 15%-20% of your total daily energy consumption during these seven hours

E7 Max Demand is not ideal if you require a lot of your electricity during the day.

E7 Max Demand in action

E7 Max Demand's Night Rate is useful for summer water heating if you have gas or central oil-fired heating, but also have an electric immersion hot water storage tank that can be run at night.

The Night Rate also suits electric vehicle chargers and other appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines which can be timed to take advantage of the discounted period, if safe to do so.
