Cost-effective and planet-friendly
Heat pumps are a long-term, cost-effective solution for businesses seeking to cut their carbon footprint and reduce energy bills. They use a small amount of electricity to capture ambient heat and convert it into useable heat for underfloor heating, radiators or hot water.
Highly-efficient heating and cooling for your business
For every one unit of electricity a heat pump system consumes, they can generate up to five units of useable heat or cooling.
How an air source heat pump works
- The air source heat pump uses a fan to draw air into and over a heat exchanger, which contains a refrigerant liquid.
- An evaporator uses the latent heat from the air to heat the refrigerant liquid until it boils and turns into a gas.
- This gas is then compressed which causes it to significantly increase in temperature.
- An additional heat exchanger removes the heat from the refrigerant (turning it back into liquid) and uses that heat to heat water for the heating system.
- The cooled refrigerant returns to the heat exchanger where the process starts again.
Air source heat pumps are suitable for:

Installing an air source heat pump system at your premises
An individual unit can be installed in less than a day with minimal disruption to your business. On the other hand, a premise-wide system can take a number of weeks to install and should be undertaken as part of a wider building project.
Air source heat pump systems require a unit to be placed at the side, rear or on the roof of a property. Depending on the size of the building, heat pumps are generally paired with an indoor unit.
As they deliver lower temperature heat than traditional boilers, heat pumps must be carefully specified to each property. They can work in conjunction with an existing boiler, or with a small electric back-up boiler.
