I learned everything I could about JE before joining the company. I was inspired by its vision to build a zero carbon future and commitment to powering thousands of island homes and businesses through sustainable energy. I felt that this was a community-centred company with a purpose and it made me want to be part of the JE family. I was drawn to Jersey for its natural beauty, family-friendly environment and warm community. It was a life-changing step and I’ve never looked back!
JE supported my move to Jersey from the moment I received the job offer right through to moving to my new home and settling down in the island. A professional relocation agent helped me through all the process and answered all my questions and concerns which made my life much easier. For someone moving country of residency for the first time, this was greatly appreciated.
The whole JE team made me feel welcomed and valued right from day one. There’s a strong sense that we’re all working together as one high performance team towards shared goals. My colleagues are motivated, inspiring people and there’s a positive atmosphere throughout the business that helps us work more effectively. My team and I enjoy a close working relationship, make time to chat to each other during the day and help each other overcome challenges and celebrate our achievements.
I initially joined the energy division as an electrical engineer. Soon afterwards, I was promoted to Lead Drawing Officer and ArcGIS engineer. This new role helped me expand my knowledge and expertise in the field. I am helping to remap our energy infrastructure using new technologies and high performance software. I have been instrumental in the migration to new digital systems which is a vital component of JE’s net zero strategy. The work I do is important and I have tangible part to play in building Jersey’s carbon zero future. I’m hugely passionate about what I do and I’m grateful to JE for the opportunity to prove what I’m capable of.
I joined the Energy Division during a major time of transition to a new advanced software called ArcGIS Pro. Migrating to this new system was an exciting challenge and it rapidly expanded my digital skills and technical knowledge. It provided me with the opportunity to rigorously test the new system to make sure it was fully integrated into every operational facet of the business. I also took the lead in ensuring that key stakeholders were fully trained in the new system to facilitate a smooth transition.
JE has been hugely supportive. After getting married in Jersey and having my first child, JE supported me with a flexible schedule that helps me balance my work life and duties as a Mum! There are so many JE skills programs in place to provide you with professional training and relevant courses to increase your knowledge and help you evolve within the business.

I was initially headhunted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. At the time, I hadn’t even heard of Jersey! After learning more about Jersey Electricity and the opportunity I quickly saw that it aligned perfectly with my skills and career ambitions. It’s such a refreshing and unique challenge to work on the energy infrastructure of an entire island. I’ve never looked back since moving to Jersey, I’ve made so many friends and professional contacts and love the island lifestyle. It’s helped me grow both professionally and personally.
JE were incredibly supportive throughout my move to Jersey. The HR team were in continuous contact with me every step of the way - through the work permit process, the visa application and my relocation to the island. Their friendly check-ups and messages made me feel very supported and they answered all of my questions and concerns. They introduced me to a relocation company to help me find a flat and set me up with the essentials for a smooth transition to the island. They followed up with me for a month after my move and gave me all the support I needed when moving to a new place.
One of the key elements I was looking in a new role was continuous development and JE’s learning and development team have more than delivered. Throughout these past three years I have been given professional training opportunities on and off the island. This has accelerated my knowledge and skills development and helped me progress rapidly in my career.
JE really made the time to listen to my ideas and career aspirations. One thing that stands out is that their people stay with them for a long time. And with good reason. The leadership team go above and beyond to create opportunities for ambitious professionals.

My wife was already in Jersey which was a major driver in my decision to move. Jersey is a beautiful island, rich with history, stunning scenery, and incredible beaches. Its proximity to Europe, which both my wife and I love to visit, was also a significant draw. When I was looking for a new role, I was excited to find an opportunity at JE as a company known for its strong values and commitment to the community. As a Professional Engineer, I am driven by the desire to serve and improve the lives of those around me. There are some very exciting projects on the horizon that will provide great opportunities and challenges for everyone to grow their skill sets. Never stop asking questions—this is how you learn. The only bad question is the one you don’t ask. No matter where you are in your career, from trainee to executive, what you know will always be dwarfed by what you don’t know. The key is to recognise when you’re out of your depth and shamelessly seek out help, because not doing so is where people tend to get into trouble. This advice applies just as well to career development. Take responsibility for charting your intended path, figure out your "why," and be flexible on the means while staying true to yourself.
