Finance Assistant
After I left school I worked in retail for a short time while I considered what I wanted to do. My parents spotted an opening at JE and encouraged me to apply. I started out as a Junior assistant before moving into the Cost Office as a Troubleshooter. I then moved onto Accounts and then Customer Care.
My first role was a Junior in Central File. A typical day involved opening the mail in the morning then taking numerous files around the company and distributing the correspondence. I had to fold a large quantity of letters and accounts statements by hand and frank them. I also had to serve tea and biscuits at the monthly board meetings. I became very good at tea-making!
A family friend worked at JE and recommended it to my parents. I was only 16 and nervous about navigating my way around every department in the company. I had to learn everyone’s name so that they got the correct mail. This did me a huge favour as it helped me make friends quickly and built my confidence.
I have developed many skills over the last 30 years at JE. I have been a Trouble Shooter for Finance where I trained up to become a Cashier. Then I moved to Accounts where I worked in credit control dealing with changes of tenancies and working with customers to create payment schemes. My Manager was a great mentor and friend. I later moved to Customer Care where I managed all incoming customer queries and helped supervise the day to day running of the department. I have now come around full circle as I am back in the Finance department as a Finance Assistant where I feel very much at home. I have learned a great deal throughout my journey with opportunities to study Management and Leadership Development courses.

The Smart Card Number also contains your six-digit Meter Number that is also displayed on your meter. You need this to top up a Smart Pay As You Go Meter whether at a Payzone outlet or online.
A Smart Card contains your unique Smart Card Number used when topping up a Smart Pay As You Go Meter.
