Have you worked at JE since you left full-time education?

After I returned from University, I had some temporary roles in different industries including Jersey Telecom before joining JE to launch my professional career.

What was your first role at JE?

I saw an opportunity for a CAD Technician in the Building Services team and went for it!

What made you go for that role?

I was confident that JE would help me develop my CAD skills and equip me with the professional training to become a Building Services Engineer. I was later offered an opportunity within Energy Division and gained invaluable experience in diverse areas of the business. I’m proud to say I am now a Senior Asset Management and Distribution Control Engineer.

How have your skills developed during your time with JE?

JE has always supported me in my career development and allowed me to progress up the professional ladder at my own pace. I’ve had incredible opportunities to train towards technical qualifications and received guidance from experienced mentors who encouraged me every step of the way. I’ve now advanced to a senior position in the business and there’s still room for career growth.

How has JE supported your career decisions?

They understood what I needed for my personal development, as well as professional. They supported my decision to take a career break and travel the world. I came back to a warm welcome and learned to appreciate that Jersey really is a wonderful place to live and work.

Finally, what advice would you give someone just starting out in their chosen career?

Be sure to choose a career that you feel passionate about. Find a professional challenge that excites and challenges you so you can grow along your career journey. The real secret is to find something you love doing and get paid for it! I’m one those lucky ones!
