JE Solar Campaign 2024 Fields Roast Dinners 1080X1920px

Energy harvested, locally

Solar makes perfect sense for Jersey. It is the ideal partner alongside the low carbon electricity we import from France.

Locally-generated solar energy is a positive step towards building our energy sovereignty and making sure everyone in our community can enjoy its benefits.

As an Island, we have a proud history of harvesting the fruits of our landscape and celebrating our unique geography – making us the sunniest place in the British Isles.

We can harness this sunshine to generate natural, homegrown energy to power our lives.

Solar shines for all

We have been investing in locally-generated solar for over a decade, and the time has come for our solar journey to gather pace. As part of our Solar 5000 ambition, we invite all Islanders to join the charge towards reaching this milestone.

Powering 5000 homes is the equivalent of generating 36MWp of electricity from various solar voltaic sources – enough to power around 10% of housing in Jersey. Solar currently accounts for less than 0.5% of Jersey’s current energy generation. Achieving the Solar 5000 ambition would increase it to 6.5% of the energy share, all generated locally.
